Storage Solutions

Most folks would agree that they possess more stuff than they actually have room for. For those that want to minimize unsightly clutter and streamline an organized mess, a storage solution is the perfect option.

Selecting a storage solution generally depends upon factors like space, use, type and placement. For example, some storage solutions are meant to be more utilitarian like cardboard boxes, plastic bins or wire baskets.

Other containers can be more decorative like leather storage ottomans, wicker drawers or grand wooden cabinetry.  Soft and brightly colored storage containers work best in a child’s room and can make cleaning up fun for them.

The good news is there are a variety of storage options available for people to chose from.  Storage solutions can be purchased already assembled and ready to  install.  The “do-it-yourselfer” can purchase the parts and assemble the storage unit at home.   Or, a custom built storage feature can be made according to an individual’s taste by hiring a professional contractor.

According to the New House Book by Terence Conran, there are three types of storage:

      • Free-standing furniture which includes bookcases, cupboards, chests and wardrobes.
      • Built-in units which are generally designed to save space and accommodate the style of the room
      • Modular systems which are both adjustable and expandable

Whatever your selection, a well-designed storage solution puts the control of clutter back into your possession.
